My Students

I teach in an urban area. All my students receive free lunch. They often lack the basic needs that we take for granted. They come to school hungry and unprepared to learn. Their parents cannot provide them with the basic tools they need to succeed in school. Many of my students, who are only eight years old, have already attended two or three schools.

My students come to school curious, wanting to learn and explore in a place that is safe and caring.

I do this by creating an environment that fosters their natural love for learning, a place where they can feel secure and cared about.

My Project

My students need motivation to be successful and achieve. It is so hard for them to stay focused and on task for 6 hours a day in front of a camera. They will be able to earn "Dojo" points to earn prizes for participation, academic achievement, and attendance in our virtual classroom.

Having the chance to win gift cards will motivate them to achieve and keep them engaged in their learning.

Students need to know, that as their teacher, I am on their team with them and want them to be successful. Together we will make this a great year!
