My Project

First grade needs high interest books and engaging phonics activities for enrichment! It is so important to build good reading habits early. Our first grade classroom would benefit from books that everyone in the room can read and find interesting! Students need to read at least 30 minutes a day in order to grow academically as readers. We don't have enough books and phonics activities for the entire class to work on at their own level. Reading ability varies greatly in first grade, so these resources will really help! Some students are still learning their letters and sounds and other students are reading at a the next grade grade level. It is very important to have a well stocked library with just right leveled books and activities for learning.

Having a classroom library with on level books and activities for all the students would be amazing!

Our school does not have any private funding or a parent teacher organization to fund-raise. We are only able to stock our rooms with supplies using our own money or resources. I have been a teacher for 14 years in the same district, but this year I am currently teaching my sixth year of first grade. The students deserve the best, and I want them to desire to be lifelong readers!
