This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My typical day in the classroom begins with students doing their "math problem of the day" in their journal and then proceed with the math lesson. The biggest problem comes when students are asked to go to Math Centers because of the lack of technology and educational interactive learning materials.
Traditional resources in the 21st Century are just not enough to spark students' interest in learning.
"Great teachers show their students how to move mountains for themselves." I want to open the minds of my students and empower them to reach their ultimate goals in the fields of Math and Science.
My students come from many different backgrounds. Most of my students are Hispanic. They love to create and explore concepts when conducting experiments, both in Science and Mathematics. The majority of my students come from a low socioeconomic status, therefore many of my students don't have access to any type of technology at home.
My Project
These interactive resources such as educational insight games like Math Slam, "N" Fraction Calculator and "Digitsz" will encourage and challenge students to work independently as well as keep them engaged in the learning process. Students will enjoy using these electronic resource tools like Head Full of Number Math Game, Multiplication Master Electronic Flash Cards and Think Fun Math Dice during independent learning math centers in the classroom.
Students can use educational programs on two Apple Book Air laptops by surfacing the world wide web and participate in programs as Sumdog, I-Ready, FunMath, Gizmo's and numerous other programs to keep them motivated. Students can also use math learning games and interactive electronic resources to aid with critical learning skills. Students will also be able to compete with each other as well as participate in world wide mathematics competitions like in the program Sumdog.
This project would promote and encourage a classroom of interactive learners.
21st century students need different types of learning resources to meet the growing demands of the new mathematics and science standards. "If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's, we rob them of tomorrow."
