My Students
My students are energetic, curious and want so much to explore the world around them. However, my students experience difficulty comprehending the changes that happen around them especially at this critical times.
My students are all diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and have low functioning skills.
My students disabilities impedes their ability to effectively communicate their needs and emotions, perform daily life's skills and deal with changes around them.
My students are all currently engaging in remote learning due to the lock down. Since they are learning from home, they mostly depend on online tasks, videos and interactive read aloud via google classroom for academic instruction. My students individualized educational plans recommends a 12 month programming due to their disabilities. This implies that with the lock down still in place, my students will most likely be attending summer school remotely.
My Project
These materials will be delivered straight to a first graders home for him to use to improve his skills during this remote learning period. My student has been doing well with online tasks but requires hands on materials as he does not have access to a printer at home.
These items will provide hands on materials and motivation for him to continue learning from home.
My student is excited about play and hands on activities. He needs these materials to continue to improve his fine motor skills and his passion for play. He usually had access to these items while at school, but not at home. Improving his fine motor skills and keeping him motivated is very important even during distance learning at home.
I am requesting these materials including play foam, dry erase writing books, and dry erase markers to ease the burden of not having a printer at home for hands on activities. I have also requested pop up pig game and magnetic tiles to foster his love for interactive play with peers.
I am hoping that having these items at home will help improve his motor skills and keep him engaged and motivated to complete academic tasks.
