Busch Middle School has a unique reading program. Every morning the entire school (students, teachers, and staff) spend 15 minutes silently reading together. This program has evolved through the years, but it has become a way to encourage a reading culture along with starting the day in a calm manner.
I would like to help motivate students to use this reading time with books they love!
Please consider donating to this project, so I can buy popular books with students. With these books they will eagerly join the silent reading time. We already have a library cart check out system in place. These books will be used by many through the year!
To complement the morning reading session we also display reading celebrations on a slideshow at lunch. Having books students enjoy will help them want to celebrate reading publicly. All of these things together help to create a positive reading culture.
