My team and I teach about 150 fifth wonderful fifth graders right outside of Houston, Texas. They come to school each day ready to learn and grow. We have a wide variety of learners. No matter where they are as a reader, we strive to meet them where they are to help them grow.
We are really focusing on the science of reading with our students.
This starts with breaking down words as sounds to decode new words and then teaching our students about the meaning of words through morphology.
Morpheme Magic helps make the concept become concrete for them through weekly lessons focusing on word parts and their meanings. Giving students to ability to tackle words they have never seen before allows them to deepen their understanding of texts as they move on in their lives. This helps bridge some of the gaps that students have in their mastery of tackling stories that once were far beyond their current reading abilities.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
