This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I service live in the South Bronx. Most of the students live below the poverty level and reside in public housing. Currently, I will be working with first grade students in an ICT setting. These students are performing at various levels from on to below the grade standard. The population of the children in my class are either English language learners, students will disabiliates and general eduation students.

This academic year my goal is to spark a love of reading and writing for all my students!

My students are children that require school to be a place where they not only embark on a learning adventure everyday but an enviroment that reminds them daily; that they are important, that they matter and that we have high expectation for them.

My students are curious little beings that are eager to explore books and tap into thier own lives as authors.

My Project

The materials I am requesting for this project would be used during the morning meeting. In our school students eat breakfast in the classroom and we use this time to review what the expectations for the day are.

Taking time each morning to review the calendar, the daily schedule and the essential questions we will explore for each lesson helps to prepare students for the day.

The materials like the pockets charts, sentence strips, write and wipe displays and the timer will be used to create an inviting morning meeting area. The resources will allow to maximize the space and organize it in a way that students may access the materials during morning meeting. The resoources will definately enhance our morning meeting time.
