Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What does it mean to play with friends? In our fast paced, test driven world, we have lost time for teaching students how to interact in a relaxed and fun environment.
Some of the students in my class come from families that are considered "Families in Transition" which means they live in hotels or funded housing.
We have challenges in getting supplies and work towards giving them food to help support their families. Our school is a Title 1, low income school. We live in Orlando and many of the older hotels have been turned into housing that our school draws many of our students from.
My Project
This project would allow me to help my students gain the social skills of play time that is not accessible in hotel settings and in extreme low income settings. My students will love to use these materials! The games and activities I have shown them, they have loved. I am requesting jump ropes and a parachute because I know as I student, they were my favorite things to do with my friends and they have never been exposed to these types of things. I can't wait to play parachute games with my kids like making the big tent, bouncing balls across it, and having kids run under the parachute as we cheer them on! I can't wait to see their little faces light up!
Donations for this project will influence a community of needy children.
My students are begging for love and care. As their teacher, I provide a safe and stable environment for them. I hope to provide a few minutes of structured fun during our busy day.
