My students need wireless headphones to work independently on the computer. They will also benefit from social skills games to learn appropriate responses to their emotions, and toys and books to help build their pretend play skills.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Romano's classroom raised $460

My Students
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a pervasive early developmental disorder where individuals may have problems with social behaviors, verbal and non-verbal communication, repetitive behaviors (verbal and physical), and obsessive interests.
I have the best group of students a teacher could ask for, and I want to be able to provide them with everything they need to have a successful year.
I teach a very special group of students. They are diagnosed with Autism, but they don't let the label define who they are. I work in a Title 1 school with a high percentage of students who are from low-income families and resources are often spread thin. I am beginning my second year as an Autistic Support teacher and need funding to provide my students with the items that other school districts take for granted.
My Project
We were fortunate to receive 6 new computers this year, however we didn't receive new headphones. Many of my students have oral fixations which means our current corded headphones are not in the best condition. Wireless headphones will allow my students to safely focus on their curriculum aligned computer based programs.
My students will benefit from the use of social skills books and games that will give them practice in pragmatics, managing behaviors, and learning to recognize and identify social cues.
Last year my students began to learn about the planets. They have a strong interest in learning more about them. A play rocket ship complete with a new library about outer space will encourage and teach my students how to engage in appropriate pretend play, while learning about earth science.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
