This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are an elementary school located in the Bronx. Our school is a Title I school with 100% free and reduced lunch population. Most of our students are English language learners who have immigrated to the US in hopes of a better education.
Our students love engaging in fun activities that will help spark creativity.
They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st-century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
My Project
As an educator of the 21st century, it is essential I provide my students with the various tools to be successful. No one can deny that technology is the future. It's evident in practically all areas of our lives. As of now, our classroom is lacking a creative space where my English language learners can grow. One of the best ways to learn a language is through innovation and creativity.
The Osmo is a groundbreaking gaming system that fosters creative thinking and collaborative learning.
When paired with an iPad, the Osmo transforms the area in front of the tablet into an interactive environment. The students will use physical objects in the area in front of the tablet to solve puzzles, spell words, and even draw. They will be able to learn and practice reading and math skills while working collaboratively with their classmates, strengthening their English language. In addition, STEM activities will introduce my students to new science, math, and technology ideas and concepts.
