My students need portable dry erase whiteboards and markers so they can work independently and in groups to solve math problems. Student are more motivated and engaged when they do math on the whiteboards.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a low-income inner city school that is one of the top-performing schools in the state. Our school is a very ethnically diverse school in the Bronx. I engage my students in learning activities that are both academically challenging and personally meaningful.
My sixth grade class consists of 50 highly motivated students who face everyday challenges living in a big city yet they are very eager to achieve academically.
They come to school each day excited to learn. My students want to do well in school and to go to university to become programmers, engineers, scientists, doctors, teachers, and professionals. They excel in math and science through hard work, collaborative learning, and creative problem solving.
My Project
My students have a strong desire to turn our classroom into a dynamic, interactive math lab using portable whiteboards. With these whiteboards, students will be able to get more excited about math by working creatively and in teams.
Creating a whiteboard infused math classroom will allow my students to play the role of mathematician, engineer, and creative problem solver.
In our whiteboard infused math classroom, students come together to collaborate and solve math problems, using their creative energy in an innovative way. My students are especially motivated and excited when they have the opportunity to get out of their seats and apply their knowledge and skills in math in a more hands-on way.
