My Students
My centers are BORING! My scholars need more than worksheets to keep them engaged.
My scholars attend a charter school in a high-need urban area in Illinois.
They are an energetic and social group. They are also very bright! They are proud of what they do and eager to share their work. They need a chance to work in groups so they can develop their social skills while they learn.
My Project
These resources will add excitement to our reading and math centers! Our school uses a workshop model which has scholars working independently while I work with small groups. It is vital that scholars stay engaged while they are at centers! At the math centers, the folding geometric solids and tangrams will deepen my scholars' understanding of how shapes relate to each other. At reading centers, the letter stamps and magnetic words will help develop my scholars' ability to form words and sentences.
With your help, my scholars will have centers activities that will help them develop their sharing skills.
They will have activities that will encourage discussion. They will have activities that will encourage cooperation. They will learn how to work independently in groups. They will learn that work does not always need pencil and paper. Your support will give my scholars the opportunity to show the world that kindergartners can do more than just color!
