Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm a K4 bilingual teacher in a public school in the Southside in Milwaukee. Developmental preschool is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold pencils and crayons.
My classroom has 25 students, distributed as follows, 4 and 5 years.
Some students receive the service for Special Education (speech therapy, behavior, assistance in academic areas such as reading, writing math). All my students are of low economic resources.
As my students make gains in my classroom, they begin to try small chunks of the day with their typically developing peers. My classroom is about building skills to get included. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day together helping to create strong bonds of trust, fun, colorful teaching based on our standards.
My Project
The use of art in early childhood education allows children to express their creativity, which is beneficial for their integral development. Art allows students to externalize everything they carry inside, it makes it easier for them to communicate their thoughts, emotions, opinions, desires in a creative way. The use of these materials, colors and tools will help effectively to better learning.
I have found that when students receive printed material during writing, their frustration level decreases because their writing skills have not yet developed.
By using color visual work work on literacy, writing and math classes students will develop phonemic awareness, reading fluency, comprehension, writing skills, math skills and communication skills in both languages, more simple and fun visual.
That to will help the development of my students visual, cognitive and thinking skill. My students will be better prepared with the all the skills to continue in Kindergarten.
