My Students

Diversity and inclusion is the mantra that drives each member of our school's staff. Our students' ethnic roots span the globe; Turkish, Russian, Ukraine, Spanish, African American, and many more. Here we see every skin color and many dialects and yet we all come together to work for common understanding. This marriage of backgrounds expands into our curriculum. While we emphasize a strong scientific base we also integrate this with the arts and humanities. The artists become scientists and scientists discover creativity through the arts. Many of my students struggle with learning, social and emotional disabilities. The economic background is wide and includes many students on the free and reduced-price lunch program.

At our school students strive to develop the intellectual, linguistic, cultural, interpersonal, and advocacy skills needed to succeed in a global future.

They nurture each other through clubs, after-school projects, activities, and a hope squad whose student members are trained to intervene for a peer in crisis.

They win awards in Robotics, host a yearly STEM fest, win art contests, display great musical abilities, and last year our 6th graders beat out Juniors and Seniors in high school.

My Project

This is a supplement to my previous project for the 3D pen kit. I was so very heartened by how fast it was getting funded I realized that with all the projects that the kids throughout the year will want to do it would be very beneficial to provide plenty of filament which is the fuel for their imaginations.

It is a fact that you can do so much more with a 64 pack of crayons than you can with an 8 pack and that applies also to using the 3D pens.

When students have a good variety of colors and enough of these colors so as to not run out midway through their project they can do so much more.

With this project, I am planning on another variety pack to give an ample supply of the basic colors and a few more specialty colors that will encourage more exploration. This will include Pink, Brown, Purple, Teal, and Glow in the Dark. I have also added 2 sets of Molds to make it easy to create the desired shapes.
