This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love technology. Unfortunately, few have access to technology at home. With these E Readers they would use technology daily to become engaged and movitated readers and savvy researchers.
My students live in a high poverty area where most receive free or reduced price lunch.
Many are reluctant readers and it is our goal to make reading accessible and fun. Providing readers will motivate all students particularly those that are far below grade level. It will also provide reading material for those who are advanced readers as well. All students would have access to information for research projects at their fingertips.
My Project
Using readers (Kindle Fires) in the class for reading and research will motivate the most reluctant readers. Students will be able to have a wide choice of reading material. It will also be possible to audio books and watch educational videos. What a great opportunity this will be all students.
By supporting this project, I will have E Readers readily available on a daily basis for my students.
This will help readers who are far below grade level to increase their reading comprehension and enjoyment. All students will have easy access to the Internet for research projects as well . Excitement, curiosity and love of learning will increase.
