My Project
The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom. I work with students in small groups and we work on both writing, reading and math using individual whiteboards. Students use whiteboards for guided practice and they serve as a way for me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as areas of need/difficulty. Often, some of the younger students that I work with have difficulty writing neatly on the whiteboards as there are no lines to help guide them.
Using whiteboards in place of pencil/paper helps to keep students more interested and engaged.
We also use whiteboards frequently during small group math instruction. A lot of our students struggle with place value and addition/subtraction with regrouping. These whiteboards also provide a more structured way to practice these concepts. They will help keep students more organized when both writing and doing math. We also like to use games to keep learning more fun and engaging. Our students often have focus and attention difficulties, so it's important that we keep things new and interesting when possible. These games and materials will help keep students on task and engaged in their learning. Students will be able to stay a little more organized when using whiteboards and will be able to practice neat handwriting with the assistance of the lined whiteboards. The Scattergories game will be great for students to practice vocabulary, quick thinking skills and categorizing. The basketball hoop game can be used to motivate students and as a movement break when needed. I would love your support to help get these materials for students to keep them interested in learning!
