More Emerging Storybooks for Emerging Readers!

My students need nine sets of emerging storybooks that are rich in story content as well as in language to help develop how to storytell.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Lau's classroom raised $899

My Students

Hearing a great story is as important as learning to read. Hearing stories rich in language and content will allow my students to be engaged and learn to become storytellers themselves. They will be able to hear these best loved books over and over and have the chance to act out the stories.

I have a wonderful curious group of kindergarteners who are thirsty for books, but not just any books, but good books.

These students come from many different cultural backgrounds, but come together 5 days a week to learn and play together. They are bright and curious and excited to learn, but I don't have enough of the same books for them to read. During Reading Workshop they often try to get the same books that I have just read, and I don't have enough to go around. Many of my students are ELL's and are learning English for the first time, and having these rich language based books are ideal for helping them develop their language.

My Project

Having enough multiple copies will allow the kinders to share books with each other, allow students to have more chances with the same book or another book of their liking because I will have enough books to go around. The kinders will also have time to practice their storytelling technics as we learn to become readers through these emergent storybooks. They learn to look at the pictures and talk about the book, allowing them to develop their language skills.

Books are important, but just not any books.

These books are rich in language and story content , just perfect for the youngest emerging readers. Help them become life long readers and lets watch them learn to become storytellers through these books!
