Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are hardworking and enthusiastic English language learners in a Title I school. Most of them speak another language at home and are beginners in terms of English language proficiency. They look forward to small group guided reading every day because it is fun to spend special time with their teacher to become better readers.
Utilizing tablets during guided reading will greatly benefit English language learners.
My students can prelisten to the texts they will be using to prepare for lessons. Most ebooks have a highlighted text function that allows students to follow along easily. There is a wealth of educational resources students can access through their tablets to reinforce their learning and complete online assessments. Using tablets will also prepare my students to be college-ready since most of them come from a low socioeconomic background without access to technology at home.
