Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every day, I am greeted by twenty-five, wonderful, smiling faces. I feel lucky to have a job that I love. School is the one place where students can come on a daily basis and know that they are safe! My school population is very diverse and challenging, but I wouldn't have it any other way! We are a Title One funded school, with ninety-four percent of our student population qualifying for free or reduced-price lunches. Many of my students do not even come with a backpack or supplies. I usually spend a significant amount of my own money buying supplies for the entire year.
Play kitchens are important for kids because they foster a range of developmental skills, including imagination, problem-solving, and communication.
They provide a safe space for imaginative play, encouraging creativity and self-expression, while also simulating real-life activities and helping children understand everyday tasks. This space is used everyday and our current one is no longer fixable.
More than half of students from low‑income households
