This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am passionate about teaching the future leaders of tomorrow. Technology is the way of our future. It is IMPERATIVE that I provide all of my learners with a variety of computer experiences to remediate, enrich, and extend their learning in all subject areas.

I am privileged to teach 24 Kindergarten students.

They are eager and excited to learn. My students attend a large public school and come from low income households. Most students are learning English as a second language and are attending school for the first time. They don't have many opportunities to participate in technological activities outside of my classroom. Unfortunately, with budget cuts and increased class sizes, access to appropriate and adequate technology tools is difficult to get to every student. Since I teach Kindergarten, I am at the bottom of the priority lists for technology.

My Project

A laptop provides the means to utilize curriculum software in all subject areas. For example, viewing videos from our math or literacy program will make the lesson more accessible to all my students, especially those who are visual learners and learning English as a second language. The help it will provide is indescribable. I want my students to be engaged and excited. A laptop can help us access amazing sights, sounds, and ideas. I will be able to model lessons and activities that they can do later do independently, and they will feel successful. My ultimate goal is to have a couple of laptop computers to create a center in the classroom, so that students do not have to share this laptop with 24 of their peers.

Many students do not have computers at home to use or have limited time in public libraries or school labs.

Adding a laptop to our classroom will give them a little more time and exposure to computers. Your donation can make this happen. Any amount is appreciated.
