My students desperately need your help with becoming 21st Century Learners. All of the students in my class are unique in their own way, but they all have one thing in common, their love for technology. Being a teacher in a low-income school means my students are faced with challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. I am looking to provide my students with lifelong skills that they will need for the remainder of their careers. I do not want my students falling behind in any way especially because of our outdated technology. Unfortunately, our district can not afford to replace them. Implementing the new technology-driven curriculum is impossible without working computers. Not having access to computers limits my students' opportunities to grow in our technology-driven world.
My Project
Having four more Chromebooks would make a world of a difference for my third graders. The majority of our curriculum is online and without the right tools, it makes researching hard and less hands-on. Currently, we only have four reliable computers in my classroom making online individual work very difficult. In English Language Arts, my students would be able to type their essays and learn the essential skills of typing. In math, students would be able to learn their multiplication and division facts using a program called "FastMath". They would also have the opportunity to continue their learning with the programs such as "ImagineMath", "Kahn Academy", "Zearn", and "Prodigy." All of these are very important tools that can make a big difference in my students lives.
