Our school serves grades pre-kindergarten through 5th, which means that as the only technology teacher in the school, many of these students and I will have worked together for seven years by the time they graduate. I love watching them grow, mature, and thrive from three years old to eleven years old.
Our school has a mix of general education students, students identified as gifted and talented, and students with special needs.
We have students whose first language is English, as well as a growing population of English language learners. We have students who have been with us since Pre-K and others who have recently arrived in the United States. Each of these students is valued and given equal opportunities and access to learning.
Our students use devices to learn in school. We are approaching a 1:1 ratio in our upper grades, and working towards the same in K-2. Through everyday wear and tear, the charging cables and wall adapters may break or wires get frayed, which is dangerous.
The goal of this project is to replace the wall adapters, and charging wires for the students who need them, to continue learning seamlessly, so students can always have a chance to plug in when necessary. As the teacher running the technology program for the schools means that I am always being asked for these items and saying no isn't really my first choice.
