My students need more books for our classroom library to use during independent reading.

My Students
Some of my students are still struggling to find books that they truly enjoy reading. By adding new and updated titles to our library my students will have more opportunities to discover books that they cannot wait to keep reading.
This year our class is working on increasing independent reading stamina as well as how to respond to what is read.
Students are given time each day to read independently and then given time to respond to what they have read.
Many students in my class are only exposed to the books that they read at school. We have a small classroom library and a school library that is not much larger. Some of my students continue to struggle to find books that interest them and that they will be able to read daily. Since September most of my students have developed more interest in reading. As the students interested in reading increases, so does the need for new and updated titles in our library.
My Project
Students will use these books to read independently. During this reading time students scatter around the room, sitting under desks, tables and in the closet. Students are allowed to choose any place in the room that they feel comfortable and can focus on what they are reading. Having books that my students will find entertaining will make it much more enjoyable reading and encourage better connections. I long for each of my students to find books that they will enjoy reading, therefore increasing their interest in reading.
The donations of these books will increase student reading desire and interest in my classroom. These books may be the ones that some students have been waiting for all year, their favorite book yet. Without these titles, some of my students may never read a book this year that they truly enjoy.
Having additional titles in our classroom library will encourage more independent reading.
For some students this could be the one book that changes their opinion on reading, the one that helps them realize that reading can be fun! My hope is that by adding these books, students will be encouraged to read more books and will find it easier to make connections and have discussion about what they have read.
