My Students
"If you can dream it you can do it." My class has proven this true this year. They decided they were going to read chapter books and they are! This wonderful group of students has discovered a love of reading, and they cannot get enough of it.
I have a wonderful group of diverse students.
They are curious, sweet, and are very supportive of each other. They love to learn and ask why. This group was determined to read chapter books, and they are with much success. My classroom library has been read and discussed thoroughly. The class shares which books they enjoyed and why. They trade books and read aloud their favorite parts to each other. They celebrate when another student is ready for chapter books and help them find books they'll be interested in.
My Project
We need books in sets that students can read together. We are still working on decoding and comprehension. When students are reading the same book they can discuss what happened with each other. This builds critical comprehension skills that they need to become better readers and writers. When they read aloud to each they build fluency, as well as help each other with new words and definitions.
Reading is the foundation for life.
These books will help my young readers develop critical comprehension skills they need to become lifelong readers. They will continue to grow their love of learning with books that are at their age level and that they are interested in.
