My Students
I have been a NYC Public School Teacher for 19 years, and throughout these wonderful years, I have come to realize that NYC kids and their families are of the most special people in the world. I have seen firsthand how creating a loving and supportive classroom community through the arts, literature and writing can ripple throughout their lives. It's been a great gift and privilege to be a teacher. I cannot think of a more worthwhile way to spend my life.
I have primarily taught grades 3 - 5 and have seen what access to a beautiful classroom library can do to foster a love for reading.
Next year, I will have the privilege of teaching 2nd and 3rd graders, and after the tough year and half they have been through, I want to reignite a love for reading and learning. A library that represents every student in our classroom, and connects us through our shared humanity, with flexible seating options, would be a great gift to these wonderful young people.
My Project
We have already secured a FULLY FUNDED Donors Choose project, and yet, family and friends have STILL DONATED! You are all wonderful! I am adding more books to our library - different and exciting titles that kids will just LOVE! Thank you for this incredible gift.
Some examples are the Katie Woo Series, Mia Mayhem series, Zoey and Sassafras series, and Sofia Martinez series!
Our last project added TONS of books with various characters, including Benny Shark, Planet Omar, Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian - students will be thrilled to get their hands on all of these new books! Thank you!
