This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My oruguitas are well on their journey as authors with all of your help! All of this writing and work that we've been putting in, has used up so many of our supplies! What we need, will be used to help them further their writing and language acquisition skills in English and Spanish.
There's nothing more heartbreaking than seeing students thrive and grow but have to slow down or modify amazing lessons to watered down versions because of a lack of materials.
That should be the least of their worries! This project will help these students in my class and bring a smile to their faces! As their writing teacher, I have worked tirelessly to create authors and writers, not just students learning for a state exam. This means the students have been busy, going through the whole writer's process- brainstorming, creating multiple drafts, revising, editing, and finally, typing up their work to publish!
However, this takes up a lot of paper, ink, and writing utensils. I have found that allowing kids to publish their work and having them see their work in color in fonts of their choice, has made them not only excited to write, but excited to do their work! Help us continue being authors!
