Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Almost all of my second grade students are from homes where English is a second language. Despite the challenges of coming from immigrant homes, my students put forth maximum effort and embrace challenges to become super-star second graders. Our school is a Title I school with 90% of our student population on a free/reduced-priced lunch.

The challenges of being in the brick-and-mortar-classroom during these COVID times can take a toll on learning and teaching.

My students need to feel safe and confident in a trusting, caring, kind, and loving environment at all times.

My Project

A few years ago, I implemented mindful practices with my students resulting in many moments of calm, reflective conversations, and a sense of “quiet” inside for everyone in the classroom.

As we return to the brick-and-mortar classroom this school year, I’d like to add specific monthly mindfulness hands-on activities to foster mindfulness and social emotional learning.

In addition to the mindful practices already in place in my classroom, the monthly activities will contribute significantly toward our mindful classroom. Your generous donation will have an impact on students, as well their families, and in the long run, the community.
