I teach 2nd grade math remote only. This year has been challenging. Teaching and learning looks very different in 2020. My students come from many different backgrounds. Most families are from low-income households. The school is a Title I school which qualifies all of them for free breakfast and lunch. Most of them are recent immigrants and are English language learners. This year has proved to be very challenging to try to keep students engaged, especially remotely. But my students try very hard and they are very special kids. Always have a smile on their faces even through these tough times.
My Project
I teach 2nd graders remotely every day. I would love to be able to see all of them at once on a monitor. A monitor will allow students to be able to have more participation during lessons. I will be able to see them and interact with all students during my lessons. I teach interactive math lessons, reading and writing lessons. I have to share my screen to effectively teach the content. I cannot share screen and see students at the same time. Some classes have 40 or 59 students at once. Teaching remotely is so challenging. Having the monitor to extend the screen will make it 100% better for the me and my students.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
