Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Digital Media students are natural born creators, explorers, and artists. They are inquisitive, they want to learn, they're curious, they crave new learning experiences, want to search for meaning and truth and share their own stories through media. It is my job to facilitate and give them access to that knowledge and the skills they need to get the answers they seek here in high school and beyond as they enter a university or the workforce. We, like many public schools, struggle with technology purchasing and we rely on your generosity to fill in the financial gaps that allow us to get the technology our students crave.
As young creators, they require the necessary equipment that can impact their final creative ideas, into powerful images that they can share with the world.
Since the start of our school year, there is a true sense of teamwork and support within the team. They are sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have intentions of pursuing a creative career after they graduate high school. Your donation will be a great starting point for their lives.
My Project
This project is dual purposed to be used both remotely and in the school building when we return. While in the school building, students will be able to immediately share their digital drawings with the school community at the click of a finger using this Samsung Monitor! The monitor will be on prominent display inside the school building and all students from our Digital Media and Fine Art cohorts will be able to share their digital art.
This will minimize the need to print out artworks for displays and allow students the opportunity to share what they are currently working on with the entire school community with just the click of their mouse.
The second purpose for this monitor is to be used during remote learning so I can see all my students' artwork as they work on it in real time. A struggle with remote teaching is failure to deliver immediate feedback, which goes against my teaching philosophy and National Board Teaching standards. Currently, I am attempting to view student work on an 11" monitor and students are not receiving the valuable feedback that is needed for them to grow as artists. Increasing the size of the monitor to 21", will greatly increase the speed and level of feedback my students will receive during our remote classes. The keyboard and mouse are wireless and are to be used along with this monitor while it is placed throughout the school building, as well as during remote learning.
