My students are English Language Learners who attend a suburban elementary school in Washington. They come from various cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds, many of them receive free or reduced-price lunch, and many parents struggle to provide basic necessities for their kids.
My students might speak different languages at home, but share a love of learning at school.
They want to be successful and strive to do their best. My mission is to help them achieve their goals with the resources and support they need.
My Project
These fun and engaging games will help my students develop important functional skills in economics, such as saving, spending , and giving, to build their financial future and success.
My students will boost their knowledge about money and financial decisions for life and enhance math skills, while using these hands on activities.
For example, ATM Action Money game requires to track earnings and expenses, so students need to apply their math skills, along with language and social skills.
The Allowance game will teach to prioritize, understand wants and needs, and simple budgeting. The cart will help to keep the materials well organized and neat. These skills are really important for my students to be successful in school and beyond.
