My students need a money kit so that they can visually and tactility learn about money and the purpose of money.

My Students

Remember the first time you paid for your own item at the store. I remember when I was 5 and bought ice cream for the first time all by myself. It was a huge accomplishment. The students in my classroom struggle with interactions and independence.

My class is a K-6 self contained intense intervention classroom.

The students have a variety of disabilities from cognitive to speech to fine motor and physical impairments. The day is very routine and based on teaching the students functional academic skills so that they may become more independent. The K-6 program is there academic foundation.

My Project

With the money kit, students will get a hands on experience with money. They will get to visually see the money, touch the money and relate the money to real life. I will be able to use the kit to meet all students educational needs by allowing students who are cognitively lower the opportunity to familiarize themselves with money and students who are higher the opportunity to count money, identify money and add money.

The money kit will greatly impact the students by giving them the opportunity to learn about money and gain more independence.

Students love the feeling of doing something on their own and with this money kit it will bring them one step closer to being independent.
