Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades. They all have unique learning styles. My students are bright, independent, dedicated and hardworking. They receive special education services in a variety of areas including learning/emotional disabilities, as well as speech and language impairments.

In spite of all the challenges my students face everyday, they come to my class ready to learn and approach each challenge with resiliency!

This year we have embarked on a new inquiry-based learning model. Students are given the opportunity to explore their interests at school like never before! We are dedicated to delivering engaging instruction by creating learning opportunities that revolve around student's interests and curiosities.

My Project

Moving towards a school-wide inquiry-based learning model is exciting and also challenging for my students. I have created a token economy to encourage behaviors that will lead to success.

Students earn "Caught You Being Awesome Tickets" for demonstrating innovative thinking, teamwork, cooperation, and perseverance.

They exchange their tickets for incentives in my classroom store. This token economy teaches the financial literacy concepts of delayed gratification, basic math, decision making, budgeting and that money is earned in exchange for work. Purchasing these incentives can be costly. This is where you can help! Your donation will be used to help me stock my classroom store with cool items chosen by my students.
