My Students
My students strive for academic achievement in the areas of (Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies)They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
These students are inquisitive and hard working with a passion for learning.
They would benefit from learning about spending and saving of their finances.
My Project
These materials will help students explore economic decision making through hand-on learning. Students will be given a budget of $5 to make an economic choice in a classroom store by purchasing snacks using coins and bills. Students will check their work by making change from $5.00. After making their purchases, they will identify the opportunity cost of their economic choice. This introduces students to the budgeting and cost-benefit analyses aspects of personal finance.
Using a gradual release of responsibility model, students experienced a real-life example of an economic decision-making process.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
