Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students with dyslexia and dyscalculia find it challenging to learn math concepts which impacts their progress in general education math. I want to use "Times Tales", a visual program, to teach multiplication to my students. Using visual aids such as large and colorful bills and coins will help students better understand the concept of money. I will use a hands-on, interactive approach by having students count money, make change, and budget money with play money. We will learn the importance of savings by creating an "earnings" jar in class.
Students with dyslexia and dyscalculia need to understand money and how it affects their everyday lives.
Much of financial literacy depends on solid mathematical foundations. My special needs students need visuals, plenty of repetition, and an interactive approach to learning math and their times tables.
Help me provide money and math visuals to my students so they can learn the concept of money and their multiplication tables so they can be financially literate as adults.
