My Project
The materials I am requesting will be used in my grade 1 class to help during our money and financial literacy unit. These students struggle with applying the math skills learned and having concrete manipulates really goes a long way in helping them be successful.
The beginning of the year is spent building a solid foundation of math facts and strategies.
During the second half of the year, we focus on the application of those strategies in units, such as the money unit. Having something tangible for them to touch helps them build a deeper understanding of the material being taught. These skills help to set them up for success later on in life by beginning their journey with financial literacy.
