This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm a Kindergarten teacher that LOVES reading. I have been teaching at a school where the majority of our students have at least one parent who is in the military. Most of our students also qualify for free or reduced lunch.
As I mentioned above I LOVE reading and try to instill this passion for reading in my kindergarten students. Many times after reading a book to my students they ask if they can borrow the book to be read at home with their parents, I find this to be amazing. At other times it is the parent that will come back and ask to borrow the book their child simply loves and has been asking for.
Reading the book is wonderful, but when you pair it up with amazing props it is fully engaging for all students!
To make the "Mom and Dad, Lets Engage in More Reading!" program a reality my students will benefit from having 10 sets of books, props, and bags. Students will be able to checkout these literacy bags to be used at home for a fully engaging experience.
By having this program my current students and future students will benefit from: having quality books to read, fully engaging in the stories, and spending quality time with their parents while reading.
