This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are leaders of the future. They are curious, positive, and taking charge of their learning. Although they come from a high-poverty area in Boston, they are hard-working and deserve the absolute best. The majority of the students in my classroom are ELLs, English Language Learners. 65% of the students at school speak a first language other than English. The faculty, administration, and support staff are dedicated to our students, and we are all proud to be part of the same team.
My Project
My second grade classrooms is full of students who are beyond eager to learn every day.
Because my classroom is full inclusion, my students have a variety of abilities.
Many of my students have intellectual disabilities that make it difficult for them to do pencil to paper traditional learning. In addition to many of my students having special needs, the majority of them are learning English as a second language.
Due to a lack of language/vocabulary, my students need to be exposed to the curriculum in different ways. Having access to an ipad mini will not only increase engagement, but it will enable them to access social studies, reading, math, and the arts. Listening to fluent reading is crucial to language development. Having access to manipulate books read aloud through the ipad mini would truly make a difference in their growth. Due to budget restraints, it is impossible for my school to purchase an ipad mini.
