My students need to learn about tolerance. Using fidgets is a great way to calm down and get ready to listen to great literature that speaks towards tolerance and loving each other.
My students bring joy and light to our small and community focused school. They are innovative, hard-working, and thrilled to come into school every day. I work at a Title 1 building with a diverse population of kids with many different backgrounds and needs. In addition to feeding hungry bellies breakfast, lunch and snack, we feed them love, acceptance, social skills and a hands on curriculum based education. Our school mascot is the Comet and is home to 425 students young fives through fifth grade. We pledge to be safe, respectful to our school, peers and ourselves. Every one of our students are active and always on the move, curious about everything and love trying new things.
This project is to create tolerance awareness.
If we start young we will build a community of tolerant, kind and educated people. I want my students to learn how to interact with others, relate to and value other people. I can do this by teaching respect through class and group discussions in a fun way.
My Project
Let's make each student feel special, safe and loved! We don't want to spare words of praise or affection! I want each student to see how fun and valuable it can be to spread kind words. We will have a time during the day when we will use our megaphone to share kind words towards each other so everyone feels special.
I want my students to learn how to interact with others by learning tolerance and respect.
I can teach my students this important skill by using a variety of different books that celebrate peoples differences and similarities, kindness, being fair and other important life lessons.
We will also model the correct behaviors in order to be a tolerant student and friend. If we cannot control our bodies, tools such as stress balls or fidgets will help us calm our bodies down and reset.
