My Students

Here at our K-12 school, students readily accept one another as they are. Their camaraderie impresses me daily and allows us to dive deep into authentic learning experiences. My students' exposure to opportunities is somewhat limited in our rural setting; as their Industrial Arts, CAD, and Spanish teacher, I am eager to share as much of the world as I can. As a result, the students love new information and are filled with curiosity.

Students enjoy seeing their ideas come to life.

Whether we're in shop class or Spanish class, we work diligently as a team to make that happen.

Students take an active role in the management of our classroom, including making DonorsChoose requests. This project was written by students.

My Project

Below is a request written by one of my Senior students. I have taught this student since 8th grade and the student has been extremely active in the growth of our program. This student was too humble to mention that the 3D printers he is referencing were built in part by him, and he operated the printers extensively to help with Covid PPE. He also failed to mention that the request he is making is not simply a plug-and-play option but will be a project and learning experience in itself, and already has been as he researched the modification, made the shopping list, and wrote the following:

Ever since we introduced 3D printing to our CAD class, our students have been fascinated with what 3D printers can do.

Students love the idea that they can design projects and make them come to life. Although our 3D printers produce good quality prints, a lot of the prints are warped. The heated bed for the 3D printer will increase the quality and prevent our creations from warping. Having the heated bed will save time by increasing our chance of having a good print. We will save money because we won't be wasting additional filament reprinting.

By contributing, you are helping students bring their ideas and creations to life. Students will be able to express their creativity, which may lead to more students taking an interest in this class.
