Our school is a public four-year high school with a wide range of students from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Approximately 35-40% of our student body participates in fine arts on some level. Offering our music students the chance to succeed is my top priority. We strive daily to make opportunities available for our high school students to further their musical skills and expand their horizons.
Students attending our school have earned recognition at the district, state, regional, and national levels.
We have alumni working on Broadway, teaching college and public school music, and performing as professionals all over the world. Our music department has a 100+ year history of excellence, and we try every day to live up to that legacy. We offer jazz band, two levels of string orchestra, and concert band, pep band, and marching band. We also have strong choral, guitar, drama, and fine arts programs.
My Project
Our school was recently chosen by the National Association for Music Education as the recipient of a scholarship to charter a new chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. This is a huge honor, as they only give out one award each year. Students will be selected from the Band, Choir, Orchestra and Guitar classes offered in our school.
These music students have been carefully selected on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership, and service.
Scholarship represents scholastic achievement and open-mindedness toward knowledge and truth. Character emphasizes a devotion to high ideals and recognizes no barriers between people of diverse backgrounds. Leadership guides us to greater undertakings, and service encourages assistance and kindness to others.
Since this is our inaugural year, there are start-up costs associated with getting a new chapter off the ground. My goal is to have financial need NEVER be a barrier to a student joining Tri-M. The pins, medallions, shirts, patches and banner are just enough to get us started in style. We appreciate your support and look forward to coming back from the pandemic stronger than ever!
