This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, I can experience first hand the impact of the arts on Kids. We try to give to our students the experience of music education. Currently, we offer general music and band.
Occasionally, our students will have sung in choir at church or have learned to rap through friends and family, but only a few had touched a musical instrument.
Our school is unique, a small school in the heart of the Bronx we serve from 6th to 12 grades .
They are vibrant students eager to learn and to experience the world.
I am hoping to continue encouraging our scholars to be creative in a positive manner and help develop their love of the arts.
My Project
We have an modern Band class that really needs Electric Guitars and basses.
This Guitars and basses will make possible for my students to learn the material and play our concerts in an appropriated Instrument .
We have being using acoustic guitars , but with the electric guitars we will be able to project sound and they will be able to be heard in our concert .
The music program at this school has been neglected for so long. As a new teacher, I see that the students really want an outlet to express themselves and music is a great way to do so. Please help me so that I can provide my students with a positive musical experience.
