Modeling Science

My students need supplies to be model atoms in chemistry and the dough to model their understanding of concepts in chemistry and physics. They also need glue sticks to insert paper models in their notebooks .

My Students

My students are inquisitive and eager to learn. They ask lots of questions! They not only want to know how, but why they are learning the concepts in class. They want to know how they apply to the real world. The school has a diverse population of approximately 1300 middle school students. The students have varying backgrounds, as well as learning abilities, but in science class they are able to find a common ground and passion for learning. They work as a team to learn and teach each other in the classroom and everyone is treated fairly and without prejudice.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will allow students to model their understanding of science concepts taught in a physical science classroom. I plan to have students use the materials to model atoms, as well as the dough to demonstrate Newton's Laws. They will also use the dough to demonstrate bonding of atoms in chemistry.

The ability to demonstrate their understanding of concepts by creating visual representations will deepen their knowledge and ensure they have a clear understanding of the advanced concepts they are learning in the physical science classroom.

I believe this hands on approach to learning will reach all learners in the classroom!
