My Project

My students have shown so much growth and resilience and I am so excited to share their enthusiasm with everyone! Modeling Our World is a hands-on approach to math, where students really get to apply math concepts in real world situations and career-ready pathways. The topic of content in our class ranges from Algebra I to Trigonometry and the items in this project, such as the wave challenge and Introduction to Waves kit, is to provide the opportunity to apply advanced math concepts and skills.

With the objective for students to learn trig functions such as waves, students will learn about waves in our ocean waters (my students and I live in Hawaii), wave properties (mathematical and scientific), and the mathematical concepts involved in predicting when a wave will reach land!

These cross-curricular and place based approach to difficult math concepts is exactly the type of math that gets our students excited and I'm so thankful that you are helping provide this opportunity for them!
