Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How did you learn best when you were in school? I was a visual learner and benefited from seeing work modeled for me on the board.

My students are second and third grade learners.

They are excited to learn and work together this year. They attend a Title One elementary school in NYC, that works to prepare them for college and careers. I teach in a self contained special education setting. Many of my students are visual learners and need charts and examples modeled for them.

My Project

A teaching easel will give me a place to create and refer back to our class-created "anchor charts" as we learn new concepts. They will later be hung around the classroom for all to see. A teaching easel will give me a place to work on a whiteboard or with magnetic materials when teaching whole group or small group lessons to students. A teaching easel will provide a space for magnetic letters or whiteboard markers that students may use independently during our reading block, as well as dividing space to create an additional learning center. As you can see, this one item will have MANY uses in our classroom! Please help me to support the needs of my students. They are a wonderful, enjoyable group and they work hard every day to improve their reading and writing skills, but we need your help to really make it happen.

Your donation will make it possible for me to create a better structure and flow for my lessons and enable a powerful visual aid for those students who need to see the writing process in action, therefore helping my students to succeed!

My students need a teaching easel so that we can conduct reading/writing mini-lessons and to create charts we can refer back to throughout the year.
