My Students
Students always need something that makes them feel proud. MobyMax can provide a sense of accomplishment for struggling math students.
My students are from a rural county in South Carolina.
85% of my students are on a free or reduced priced lunch. My school only houses 5th and 6th graders. We have about 700 students total. Some of my students have never traveled beyond the county lines.
My Project
Students will use the tablets to access a website called MobyMax. MobyMax is a completely integrated K-8 curriculum and teaching system with progress monitoring, goal setting, fluency practice, and motivation tools. Students will take a math pre-test and the program guides them through lessons that are based on their level. It develops a learning path for the individual students. I have many students who are below grade level. By having the tablets, students will be able to work on their grade level and increase their confidence with important math skills.
No one likes to do something that is too hard for them.
If students are able to complete tasks that are on their level, then it will make them feel good about themselves and what they are accomplishing. In MobyMax, you can earn medals. It encourages students and helps them get the right answer. Everyone likes to feel good about themselves. MobyMax can provide that for children who struggle in math.
