Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are creative, expressive, and eager to share their thoughts—especially when they’re immersed in a great story or exploring their own writing. They come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and many rely on school as their primary space for academic support and enrichment. As we transition to a departmentalized model next year, I’ll be focusing specifically on literacy, and I want to make our learning environment as interactive and engaging as possible.

I am requesting a mobile whiteboard easel to support daily literacy instruction in our classroom.

This easel will become a central tool for mini-lessons, interactive read-alouds, shared writing, and small-group instruction. Whether we’re charting ideas during a class discussion, building vocabulary, modeling paragraph structure, or organizing thoughts for a reading response, this whiteboard will help bring literacy to life.

It’s not just for teacher use, either—students will be able to use the easel to brainstorm, practice writing strategies, and present their work to the class. Its mobility makes it easy to use in different parts of the room, which is essential for differentiated instruction and flexible grouping.

The whiteboard easel will make literacy instruction more dynamic and interactive. It will allow me to model reading and writing strategies clearly, facilitate shared writing experiences, and support students as they build confidence in their literacy skills. Most importantly, it will empower students to take a more active role in their learning by allowing them to write, revise, and reflect in front of their peers.

As our classroom becomes more focused on literacy, this easel will be a daily tool that helps turn reluctant readers into engaged learners and hesitant writers into confident communicators.
