This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is a 2nd grade dual language (English-Mandarin) class of about 23 students in District 1 in Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Most of my students come from low-income families and my school is a Title I school. Many of them receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
Despite the many challenges they face, such as little food at home, my students are always so smiley, so kind, thoughtful, and so generous.
They will save their snacks and surprise me by leaving snacks such as an apple, a banana, or a pack of cranberries on my desk! Their words, "You need brain food!" make my heart melt! They are intelligent, fun loving, creative, and spontaneous.
I am looking to provide my students with hands-on, fun, and meaningful learning experiences. I need your help to make that possible.
My Project
Thanks to DonorsChoose and all the wonderful, generous and supportive donors, my Chromebook and iPad projects were fully funded. My students now have 10 Chromebooks and 4 iPads to share and use but now, we need a storage charging station for these Chromebooks and iPads.
Right now, I have to lock my Chromebooks in a wooden closet.
Every morning, I have to take them out and place them on the floor to charge. It is not ideal but I have no choice as I do not have a charging/storage cart for these Chromebooks. It would be a shame to have these new equipment damaged without a proper, secure storage and charging cart.
I'm hoping that this project will get funded so that I will have a place to call home for these Chromebooks and iPads!
