My Students
First graders are some of the most fun & energetic people I know. They are eager to learn, curious about everything, and ALWAYS moving. I have found that they respond best to instruction that is explicit, engaging, and provides ample opportunity to move their bodies.
In my classroom, I try to provide multiple areas of learning.
My students enjoy the carpet area for whole group instruction, as well as various learning stations set up around the room. We have one whiteboard at the front of my room that helps me to model activities and lessons throughout the day.
My Project
Having a mobile whiteboard in the classroom would help to transform how I teach my students! Currently, I have one small whiteboard at the front of my room. While it is great to have this space, it is static and insufficient for the different kinds of learning that take place in our room.
Instruction in my classroom is never in one place!
At times, we are learning together with whole group instruction on the carpet. Other times, I work with smaller groups at a table or designated area. In addition, my students are often asked to take and transfer that learning from one area to another. A mobile whiteboard would not only make it easier to move from one learning setting to another, but also give my students a way to transfer that prior learning with ease.
