This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are caring, young scientists that are eager to learn. We are a K-5 science and technology school in an urban neighborhood. Our goal is to foster a love of learning and provide high quality, hands-on educational experiences.
My Kindergarten, first, and second grade students are science and engineering enthusiasts!
We love to problem solve and design solutions while working to understand the world around us. We are a classroom that is overflowing with excitement! Our love of learning has caused us to outgrow our space!
My Project
Our classroom is a busy, hands on learning environment. Our youngest scientists are hard at work learning the engineering process. We love to work in teams to plan, design, and test our solutions to a variety of problems. We are all looking forward to many engineering challenges!

The room that we spend our time in cannot contain our excitement. It is a shared learning space, our science classroom doubles as an art office. With limited floorspace and bulky furniture that takes up most of it, how can we collaborate with our peers to plan and still have space to test our designs?
We need mobile collaborative workspace! Imagine a classroom where students can work together at their desks to discuss and draw a plan, but within minutes it can become an open space for creativity.
The 25 stools and 7 workspaces will be used for cooperative learning and planning. When it comes time to design and create, the stools will be stacked and the tables rolled away. The floor will become the space we need to build with K'NEX, Legos, blocks, invention kits and more!
