Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my wonderful world of kindergarten, I have an eager to learn group of 25 little minds that have wide and curious eyes as they enter our classroom on the first day of school. We quickly become a strong community that learns about our letters, numbers, and how to read a book. They come from a very low-income neighborhood where they don’t have access to many basic needs. For many of my students, this is their first time in school and they have never held a book before.

While they all may start out at different levels we always encourage each other to keep trying and celebrate each other's accomplishments.

We not only learn English, Math, Science, and Social Studies but we also learn about how to make friends, how to hold scissors or a pencil, how to share and how to make smart choices.

We are a part of a school that strives to be welcoming, inclusive, and supportive to all students. With our many different cultural backgrounds, we celebrate diversity and do our very best to incorporate all backgrounds into our everyday learning.

My Project

Mo Willems books will not only be used to help build our classroom library but will also be used to help students learn about the different ways to read and write a story. Creating a Mo Willems author study will help teach my students different reading strategies and help build connections between different books.

These books will help support our Writer's Workshop and help teach them that one author can write in many different styles including speech bubbles.

Mo Willems books are so interactive they are guaranteed to pique their interest.
